That Day in October

A change in the wind, leaves limp from the trees, not ready to let go. I’m not ready to let go. A change. Sun bright, air cold. Leaves gather at the road side, conkers crushed, defeated. This day. I think of you. Not ready for the change.

Perfect Saturday

Rain drumming down
As it did once before
A constant setting
For our shared past

The steady rhythm
Washes away our cares
Turns back the clock
Strips away the now.

A simpler time
Just us two
Without distraction.
Without the hurt.

The rain comes down,
Pattering on the window.
Drops stream,
I think of you.

Catch a reflection,
Untampered youth
How things change.
Except for the rain.
