I was re reading this poem by Siegfried Sassoon this evening and just love the final lines:
You are too young to fall asleep for ever;
And when you sleep you remind me of the dead.

Waking
Working
Stressing
Worrying
Things we go through
Everyday
Take a pause
Recharge
Reboot
A moment
For yourself
Start all over.
Walking in the hazy rain
Sensation like no other
Something yet nothing
All at the same time
Reflects how I feel today
Between sleeping
And waking
I think of you
One perfect moment
Safe in Limbo
Eyes stay shut
Hold on
A bit longer
Awake
And you’re gone
Until next time.
The faint white lines
Across your flesh
Always with you
Always there
A map of memories
Drawn out
For all to see
Painted on your skin
Reminders of your past.
You wear me out
Day after day
As time ticks on
I feel myself
Fading away
So tired of fighting
Of keeping it up
No smiling
No laughter
Just struggling through
I’m tired of this
Tired of you
Sun sparkles on the water
Light dancing to and fro
Dive in, join me
Underwater
Submerge and be free
Take care though
One wrong move
And the light is gone
Another day without you
Just another day alone
Try to smile
To show a facade
But inside I’m drowning
Struggling to breathe
Hollow and numb
Surviving without you.
Early morning sun
Embraces the day ahead
Dew kissed garden, and
A fresh feeling in the air
The world rises once again
Waves crashing
All around
Fret spraying
In our eyes
Standing
Hand in hand
The World
Fades away
